The Ranch resort fee is 12% of the room rate and covers all complimentary activities onsite such s'mores and morning guides walks. A portion of the fee also goes towards local conservation initiatives, caretaking of the animals onsite, and an employee retention program.

Kids of all ages are in for a special treat at Sorrel River Ranch. Our most popular attraction is the on-site petting zoo where kids can help our wranglers feed miniature horses, potbellied pigs, chickens, goats, and rabbits. We also offer pony rides for a nominal charge and complimentary for children under 3. Additionally, kids can play outside, spend time riding bikes around the ranch or take a swim in the heated outdoor pool. For those that want more instruction, we offer several Wrangler camps.

Drive time from and into Downtown Moab 25 minutes via an 18-mile drive along the Colorado River on Highway 128 (a designated scenic byway). The closest major airport is Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) in Colorado, a 90-minute drive (82 miles) away.

It is approximately a 30-minute drive to Arches National Park Visitor Center, and one hour to the entrance of Canyonlands National Park (Islands in the Sky District). There is so much to see and do in close proximity to Sorrel River Ranch -- such as Fisher Towers, 10 minutes away. The weather in our “high desert” location is as varied as its landscape. During the summer, you can expect dry, hot days, with evenings and nights cooling down pleasantly. Winter months are usually in the 40s during the day and dip into the 20s at night. Spring flowers arrive early and sunset are spectacular all year round. Dogs are always welcome and we make sure they have a great time with our complimentary pet amenities. We allow up to two dogs per room for $50 per dog per night. Service animals are welcome free of charge. We ask that you keep your dog on a leash, clean up after them, and do not leave them unattended. We happily provide a dog bed, bowl, and treat for our furry friends upon arrival. Please note, dogs are not allowed into the national parks but are welcome on BLM land.

JJ's Mercantile is located along scenic Highway 128 and offers a large variety of produce, gifts, sundries and more, and Moab stores are just a short drive away. The store is seasonal and may adjust open hours as business levels demand. Please check the JJ's Mercantile page for the most up to date opening hours.

Be sure to check the weather before arriving and pack accordingly for all weather conditions. We recommend bringing quality hiking shoes, water shoes if you plan on going rafting, quick-drying clothing, and a rain jacket (just in case).

Moab is beautiful and has something to offer year-round. There is no bad time to come to Sorrel, it all depends are what you are looking for. April through October are the busiest time of the year, and we recommend booking as early as possible for these time periods. Although sometimes weather is unpredictable,Moab generally has mild winters and hiking is possible year-round.

Outside of certain weekends with popular demand, there is no minimum stay at Sorrel, however most guests book at least three nights in order to fully enjoy Sorrel River Ranch and experience all the region has to offer. This allows for enough time to enjoy the surrounding areas without being rushed, enjoying the unique landscape of Moab, along with the Ranch and all of the activities offered. A deposit equaling 50% of your reservations total value will be charged at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be charged to the card on file 45-days prior to arrival. Once full payment is collected, it is non-refundable, non-trasferable. Your reservation can be cancelled prior to 45 days of the reservation with a 10% admin fee on the entire stay.

Wi-Fi service is free throughout the property. Please remember that you’re staying in a beautiful remote area, so cell service and internet service can be intermittent.

Yes, we are happy to accommodate a rollaway or a pack-n-play at no additional cost. Please contact reservations ahead of your visit to add one to your reservation, based on availability.

No, but it is the firm belief of our equestrian manager that the more horses you ride the more well-rounded you become as a horseman. Even riders of the highest caliber can benefit from the different types of feel that one horse provides over the next, and our equestrian manager assures even riders at the top levels that she’ll have a horse that you’ll more than enjoy.
